Unlike normal Blogging, Vblogging is somethign that I think requires a lot of confidence and extrovertedness.
I mean think about it. Here I a sitting and writing this post comfortable in the knowledge that unless you ask me directly, you dont know my complete name, have never posted a snap of myself, and you definitely have no idea which company Im working for. (I hope all that is true, else youre good at finding stuff out - do let me know!)

and here, in vblogging, not only do you talk about stuff, you capture your video for the world to see. You need to be an extrovert, extremely confident of yourself (not just looks here) as well as somewhat narcissitic. And, you need to be someone rather fond of publicity. Not all bloggers want to be famous. Especially those who keep journals. Right?

somehow this seems like exhibitionism..and a dumb idea.
I mean-a DAILY video of oneself?
You would have to have good acting skills and spontaneity, else you end up looking like an idiot.

One thing about journals-the fact that you're publishing it on a site means it's open for the world to see-whoever stumbles upon it, that is.
I generally assume that it's just you and sash that read my blog-occasionally the random comment pops up to remind me otherwise.
It IS kinda creepy to have your blog read by an invisible audience isn't it?

Re: Ew..
yeah it is. I mean there are ppl wo consider even blogging 'exhibitionism' and i guess those publis blogs with zillions reading them are that. I mean unless you want that to be your full-time job, ... basically publicity.

And vblogging...yeah. a daily tape is also OK, a personal voice record is fine, putting it on the net...uh...ok, but a Video?! ok, so I may not be comfortable with video journals of oneself...but...
The post was inspired by the story of 'lonelygirl15' and the fakeness of it.

The whole thing is more like a soap, and a sure shot way of getting noticed.

Re: Ew..
Theres a hidden voyeur in people, and the vlogs cater to them, lonelygirl15 was an orchestrated performance that people bought hook line and sinker and wanted more of, and there are hundreds of regular feeds on youtube that are similar..
For that matter even blogs are popular because they offer a peek into a person you may have not known well..though it may be in correct to make an assumption based on whats written in a blog.

Re: Ew..
But then lonelygirl was an orchestrated thing-and it clicked also because she looks hot.
For every lonelygirl there are a million others on LJ and other places, whose blogs are far from public. I'm not of course talking of the general interest/political commentary type blogs which have millions of readers.
Take us, for instance..AFAIK it's just the 3 of us reading each others blogs. Occasionally a random comment from a stranger that creeps me out.

I would say that despite the risk of exhibitionism- no one is really that interested in looking at your vlog unless it has something unique. So unless you're actually doing things to attract attention to it, by and large it would remain as unnoticed as any other blog.
